01 — Who We Are

Industrial capability.
Local enterprise.
Shared prosperity.

Magaya Mining is a Zimbabwean gold business built around partnership. We bring together mineral resources, entrepreneurial miners, capital and processing infrastructure to unlock value across the gold production chain.

Our model supports artisanal and small-scale miners and claim owners through access to finance, technical assistance, logistics and professional gold processing. Through supply arrangements and joint ventures, we help turn mineral potential into productive businesses and sustained economic opportunity.

02 — Our Story

Built on partnership.
Driven by purpose.

Magaya Mining began with a simple conviction: Zimbabwe’s artisanal and small-scale miners should have the opportunity to build stronger businesses and share meaningfully in the wealth they create.

Founder shareholders Tristan Schutte and Zweli Lunga turned that conviction into a business model built around partnership. Motivated by a desire to empower miners and contribute to real, lasting change, they placed access to finance, technical expertise, logistics and modern gold processing at the heart of Magaya Mining’s approach. Their ambition was to build a commercially successful business by helping miners themselves succeed.

Together with the wider Magaya Mining team, they continue to advance that founding purpose: connecting local enterprise with industrial capability to support safer, more productive and more responsible gold production.

For Magaya Mining, progress means more than producing more gold. It means stronger livelihoods, sustainable local businesses and greater opportunity for the communities in which we operate.

03 — What Makes Us Different

An integrated partnership model.

Magaya Mining combines processing infrastructure, financing, technical support, logistics and commercial relationships around participating miners and claim owners. The distinction is the way these capabilities connect as one partnership model rather than operating as isolated services.

Aggregated Processing Plants

One processing plant for all.

Financing

Where a technical assessment supports it, we provide loans and equipment so partners can develop their claims and grow production, on clear, agreed repayment terms.

Technical Support

Our specialists share training and hands-on expertise, from exploration and sampling to mine planning and safety.

04 — Our Place in the Gold Value Chain

Relationships across the gold value chain.

Gold moves from the ground to market through a chain of people and partners. Magaya Mining sits at the centre of that chain, connecting the miners who produce ore, the claim owners who hold the rights, the contractors who keep operations moving and the refinery that buys the gold.

Claim Owners

Holders of mining rights who may not mine the ground themselves. We partner with them to evaluate and develop their claims, often through joint ventures, guiding them on planning, compliance and turning a claim into a productive asset.

Participating Miners

Small-scale miners who mine and supply ore to our plants. We sponsor capable miners with finance, equipment and business guidance, helping them grow into formal, well-run and profitable enterprises.

Processing

Our aggregated processing plants serve our partners. Designed for efficiency, they use advanced crushing, milling and carbon-in-leach (CIL) techniques to recover the gold from partner ore.

Fidelity Gold Refinery

Gold recovered at our plants is sold to Fidelity Gold Refinery, Zimbabwe’s authorised gold buyer, so every sale is lawful, documented and traceable from mine to market.

ESG & Sustainability Reporting

Responsible gold. Measurable progress. Shared prosperity.

Our ambition is to grow gold production in a way that strengthens miner livelihoods, protects people and the environment, and creates lasting value for host communities. We will report on our progress, the challenges we face and the actions we are taking to improve.

A · Governance & Responsible Sourcing

Trust and accountability

Supplier assessment, lawful sourcing, traceability, business ethics, human rights, financial accountability and grievance handling.

B · People, Miners & Communities

People-centred progress

Worker safety and wellbeing, miner development and documented community investment.

C · Environmental Responsibility

Measured environmental performance

Our aggregated processing plants centralise the waste, chemical and environmental footprints of small-scale miners. With these footprints in one place, mercury reduction, chemical management, water stewardship, tailings, rehabilitation, energy and emissions can be properly controlled, monitored and measured.

Our Story · 2021 to today

Our story

2021
Aerial view of the Walden site

The birth of Magaya Mining

In 2021, Magaya Mining was registered as a company, founded to work alongside small-scale miners with the finance, know-how, transport and processing they need to grow.

2023

Building the foundations

In 2023, Magaya Mining put the right structure in place, bringing its operations, people and systems together, ready to grow.

2024
Amatola processing plant with mills, conveyors and control room

Amatola comes online

Construction began at Amatola, our newest site, in July 2024. Just five months later, in December 2024, the plant processed its first material, taking our model to a new region and bringing reliable processing closer to the miners who supply it.

2025
Aerial view of the Chandelier plant at Pickstone

Processing ore from the start

Chandelier at Pickstone marked a new step for Magaya Mining. It is our first plant designed to process ore directly, adding a new capability to our network and widening the ways we can support the miners and partners who supply us.

2025

Consistent growth

In the same year, we built a new plant at Amaveni. Adding another major plant within a single year reflects the steady, disciplined growth of our network: built one site at a time, and always around the needs of the small-scale miners we serve.

2026

Expanding Walden

Our story returns to where it began. We have started building a new plant at Walden, designed to process ore directly. When it is finished, it will strengthen the site that started it all.
