The birth of the vision

In 2021, Magaya Mining was founded to work alongside Zimbabwe’s small-scale miners, bringing together the finance, know-how, transport and processing they need to grow, and setting out a clear purpose for everything that followed.

Building the foundations

In 2023, Magaya Mining focused on putting the right structure in place. The company organised itself for growth, bringing its operations, people and systems together under one clear structure, ready to take its partnership model to more sites and more miners.

Amatola comes online

Construction began at Amatola, our newest site, in July 2024. Just five months later, in December 2024, the plant processed its first material, taking our model to a new region and bringing reliable processing closer to the miners who supply it.

Processing ore from the start

Chandelier at Pickstone marked a new step for Magaya Mining. It is our first plant designed to process ore directly, adding a new capability to our network and widening the ways we can support the miners and partners who supply us.

Consistent growth

In the same year, we built a new plant at Amaveni. Adding another major plant within a single year reflects the steady, disciplined growth of our network: built one site at a time, and always around the needs of the small-scale miners we serve.

Expanding Walden

Our story returns to where it began. We have started building a new plant at Walden, designed to process ore directly. When it is finished, it will strengthen the site that started it all.
